Day 7: Exploring Sorrento
On day 7 of this itinerary it’s time for a well-deserved lazy day at the beach. There isn’t much sand here, so Sorrento offers wooden jetty lidos that stretch out into the ocean.
Marameo Beach Club
You’ll find a handful of private beach clubs or restaurants with private piers along the waterfront of Marina Piccola
I recommend Marameo Beach Club as the perfect place to relax, located in front of the main lift entrance / exit. It is the most expensive option, but it’s offer is more exclusive.

You can happily leave the beach towel at home, as towels are provided – it’s around €17pp for a sun lounger, umbrella and access to the water. They have floating sunbeds bobbing up and down in the sea and a restaurant serving local cuisine. The sunbeds are hemmed closely together, limiting the personal space but this is the best lido, away from the noisy small public beach. The turquoise water of the Mediterranean Sea water is so clear and the perfect temperature to cool off when the heat rises in the afternoon.
Piazza Tasso
As the sun starts to go down, head back up to the Piazza Tasso for one last time, as people gather along the cliffside to watch the sky turn a glorious red colour.
The best views across the bay towards Mount Vesuvius can be seen from Villa Communal Park.

Evening meal: Ristorante L’Abate
With tables outside on the pretty Piazza Sant’Antonino, this restaurant has a charming atmosphere. Every night people queue for a table and there is a piano player entertaining diners with his covers of well-known songs.
Classics from the menu include spaghetti with zucchini and paccheri in seafood sauce. There is also a good choice of sautéed shellfish and catches of the day. Cooking classes take place upstairs. I recommend going into the restaurant the night before to reserve a table, you can book online but the waiter advised it’s not reliable – ask for a table outside!

Gelato: C’era una volta l’edicola
For desert, take one last stroll back to Piazza Tasso and stop at C’era Luna Volta I’Edicola for a gelato pit-stop. I sampled a lot of gelato and speaking from experience, I can say this place offers the best gelato selection in Sorrento with unique flavours like stuffed ricotta, cheesecake, almond granite and white chocolate with hazelnut.
Order a ticket from the till and sample the different flavours before choosing what to have, it’s worth the treat…
