Address: 411 Mare St, London, E8 1HY

This little café in Hackney has been popping up all over Instagram so I had to see what is was all about.

They used to just sell tea and coffee, but now offer breakfast, brunch and lunch menus.

You can’t book and it’s located on a bit of a dreary high street (opposite a Percy Ingle’s).

Don’t be fooled, from the moment you enter, you’ll be immersed into a world of pastel pink and green interiors, with gold lighting and pretty botanical plants hanging from the ceiling. It really is a contrast of two worlds and a winner when it comes to café décor!

It’s also not just the décor that is pastel coloured, for breakfast and brunch you’ll find coloured lattes, glittery flat whites, pink yoghurt bowls and edible flowers. When it comes to their food, there are plenty of good breakfast options.

You can choose from smoothie bowls, granola and Chia pots, avocado on toast (with a host of extras to add on) and also a great range of toasties.

The granola pot (£6.00) with mixed berries, chia pod seeds and yoghurt caught my eye and it’s decorated with the cutest floral decoration. It’s almost too pretty to eat!

The staff are happy and friendly and were open to help and recommend dishes. Our waiter kindly informed us that the infused lattes aren’t the brightly coloured coffees, instead they’re made with fragrance ingredients like rose, lavender.

I decided to choose flavour over colour, so went for a rose latte (£3.00) with added edible gold glitter – of course! I must say the result was a very satisfying, delicate floral infusion with a uniquely sweet, yet aromatic twist on a regular coffee flavour. I loved it!

For avocado lovers, they also do a great avocado on toast (£8.00) served on sourdough bread with chilli flakes. You can add extra toppings for a little more substance, including crumbled feta, sundried tomatoes, turmeric and smokey coconut.

It’s wise to save room for a sweet treat if you can, as they tend to also have a colourful range of tiered cakes on the countertops. When I visited they had a colourful pink layered rainbow raspberry cake, chocolate brownies and cookies.

Palm Vaults seems to be fast becoming one of Hackney’s most popular cafes. Even if you have to queue, it’s worth the wait, as the food comes really quickly and the staff don’t rush you. With it’s 70’s Miami beach vibes, it’s definitely worth seeking this place out!

Brunch menu: 9am-6pm, Mon- Sat & 10am – 5.30pm.

Brunch for two diners: around £25.00 inc. food + drink
