There are often a certain number of stereotypes that spring to mind when someone says they are off to Amsterdam. This itinerary is hear to quash those rumours, and show a side of Amsterdam that is a far more beautiful than many people realise.

If it’s your first time to the city, you’ll be surprised to learn that it’s so compact, meaning you can walk or cycle pretty much anywhere you want. Also, nearly everyone will speak English, so don’t worry if you don’t master the Dutch language in time.

The best three “must sees” are Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum and  Keukenhof Gardens. My favourite area to explore is Jordaan area with trendy cafés and bric-a-brac weekend markets. Amsterdam is a casual city, that is very well organised. Each street is just as picturesque as the rest, so make sure you have a camera ready! My only advice is that the weather can be very similar to England, so don’t forget to pack a brolly, as even in the rain you’ll want to venture through the canals and parks exploring on foot!
